In response to overwhelming request to learning the Arabic language, Dr. V. Abdur-Raheem, a well known and respected teacher in the Faculty of Languages came up with an integrated and step by step method of teaching reading, writing, and speaking to students from Western as well as Eastern backgrounds. The result of his endeavor are these Arabic Language Books.
But this did not seem like enough
for the student who was not in an Arabic country or environment.
Making Arabic the first language was an endeavor that needed to be addressed
in a non Arab country. This problem few address. With this in mind
Sheik GM Shukri Jumuah found the solution and took the time to record
the whole program and step by step and explain it as he goes along. He
becomes the teacher the explainer the sound you become accustomed to. This

The Program consist of books on Arabic grammar which help with .... reading, writing, and exercises which help with comprehension, along with Nusoos (higher Qur'anic Grammar and Terminology). They have all been written with the aim of taking the student step by step through the basics with an emphasis on the language of Qur'an and Hadeeth. The level 1 books Each lesson builds upon the student's abilities from previous lessons. Thus making it impossible to go on to another lesson without fully comprehending.
The books and cassettes are geared towards not just understanding the Qur'an but being able to converse in the language of the Qur'an. To understand what is being read and said and not just mimicking it. You need to buy a good dictionary (helpful but not necessary) and a sturdy notebook. It is not necessary but helpful also to go through the book with a person proficient in the Arabic Language maybe once a week ( I did not until I was midway through Book 2).
We encourage students who reach a particular standard in the Language, to pick up some easy to understand book in Arabic and try to read it. We also encourage you to buy videos and other audios to listen to in Arabic to accustom your ear to the language. Need I say to practice reading the Qur'an out loud on a regular basis this will help with your sound. After the Level 1, I was able to at least introduce myself and explain simple things to others along with recognize Ayats of Qur'an (simple ones). After the Level 2, I was able to read and converse with almost any Arab educated speaker. In Level 3, I am able to read the books of tafseer with much less difficulty and understand Kutbahs in Arabic and understand many dialects mostly because I did supplement at this point with Videos and Children's Music (without instruments). I have not reached that level yet but I have heard that after level 4, that I will be very stable and able to read with no difficulty at all. Basically, you will learn inshallah. It won't happen over night and it will take a plan and some discipline, but it can be done. With strong determination you will be able to teach Arabic to others and translate Arabic books for non Arabic speakers!! I know that I have struggled but that is what this life is about. "With every difficulty comes the ease"
I have used this knowledge to home school Arab children English because helping them bridge the gap between the two languages has been overwhelming. I also have seen my own children just flourish. Masha-Allah!! I found, the more I knew the more they knew. Subhanallah I am an American who has never been overseas not even for a visit. I am not married to an Arab, but Allah has made it such that my 2 youngest don't speak English at all. I have felt that Arabic in the home will give them the foundation I want for them. Inshallah!!
