Amaani's African American 3rd Grade Lesson plan site.  This site shows the monthly lessons of a young Muslimah.  Inshallah you will have fun.  this encompasses probably a 2nd to 7th grade lesson plan.  Have fun!!

The Internet African American History Challenge I found a wonderful site that you can read and then take a quiz after reading about some interesting people and their lives … Directly on net !!  So for anyone who is interested in taking the quizzes when you are done type in your child's first name - Class code: type in ArabesQ - we all can keep track of the children and have fun!!

Africans in America - Presented by PBS - America's Journey through slavery is presented in four parts, each with a historical Narrative, a resource bank, and a teachers's guide.

Buffalo Soldiers Sixteen photographs and 14 of their legendary Native American foes, two mini videos and 64 story/page links are presented with battles, and historical background events.  Links to Civil War, military, and personal archival documents are included with additional links to multimedia, kids, family and multicultural sites. 

Civil War Lesson Plan Recommended Trade Books, Additional Materials, Background Information, Genre Study: Historical Fiction, How to Integra Reading and Writing, Enrichment Activities, plus Unit Wrap-Up, Links to Other Civil War Sites.  This is a small site compared to the one below but by far one of my favorites.

U.S. Civil War Curriculum of NJ - created with the intention of presenting topics about the greatest battle on American soil, the American Civil War . Offering fresh ideas and new insights for homeschoolers to utilize when presenting this unit to 4th - 8th grades.

Realities of Slavery lesson plan done by Encarta - Students will examine the real conditions of slavery life captivity and the underground railroad.  Use with the 7th-12th graders.

Escape to Freedom - A Lesson plan site for the book!!  Really neat and tastefully done by the History Channel.

COOL Biography SITES FROM HOMEWORK CENTRAL AND ENCYCLOPEDIA CENTRAL: 

Alvin Ailey  The biography of Alvin Ailey, dancer and founder of one of the world’s greatest dance companies. 

Marian Anderson  Marian Anderson was the first African-American person to be a part of the Metropolitan Opera, in New York City.  Learn about her life and listen to audio quips. 

George Washington Carver  Inventor and chemurgist who developed 325 products from peanuts and who invented instant coffee. 

Frederick Douglas  Frederick Douglas was a prominent abolitionist and editor from the 19th century. 

Phillis Wheatley America’s first Black poet, Phillis Wheatley wrote all of her poetry in her short life of 31 years.  Learn about her life, and read her poems at this site.
